On Returning, Mixed Media by Lisa Kagan
As we move from the darkest time of the year towards the return of the light, this afternoon retreat will offer you the chance to step away from the demands of daily life to connect more deeply with your own inner light through engaging in the creative process of writing, painting, drawing, and collage. You will have the chance to explore what resilience and renewal mean to you in the context of your personal journey. We will experiment with creating our art on circular canvases, drawing inspiration from the cycles of the seasons, the practice of mandala creation, the rich tradition of Japanese crests, and the power of myth and personal symbolism. This afternoon will provide you with the opportunity to nourish yourself in the supportive, uplifting company of other women. Light snacks, tea, and all art supplies will be provided.
No previous art or writing experience necessary. This workshop is for people who identify as female of all ages and backgrounds. This program is offered as a collaboration between Portland Women Writers and Family Heirloom Arts.
