Change will come, whether we wish it to or not. To fight it is like fighting the sunrise. Better to say, ‘Ah, welcome old friend. Here you are again.’

The Heart Of Our Work

Emotional Touchstones & Healing

When collaborating on creating personal ceremonies with our clients, we are sensitive to the differences in honoring a chosen transition versus a circumstantial transition that is caused by something that has happened to us that we need to respond to. In both instances, times of change can create a period of significant emotional and spiritual unrest, which can lead to feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed, and ungrounded.

Without a safe and supportive container, this can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation when feeling like you are facing uncertainty on your own without support. Ceremony and ritual can be powerful ways to create intentional structure and focus during times of uncertainty. When bringing community together through a life passage ceremony, the power of witnessing can deepen relationships and strengthen support networks.

Engaging in the process of ceremony creation can help contextualize the transition that you are in by giving you space to focus on your threshold experience. Often life passages require a severance, or a process of letting go, in order to be able to move into the liminal space of change, and then to help incorporate that change into the next chapter of life.

About Lisa

Lisa is a celebrant, personal historian, writer, artist, and creative facilitator. For over twenty years, through her business, Family Heirloom Arts, Lisa has been supporting individuals and families to celebrate their life stories and honor significant life milestones. Lisa has spent thousands of hours interviewing her Family Heirloom Arts clients and helping them express the heart of their stories through oral storytelling, writing, and heirloom book creation.

Her sensitivity to people’s needs, and ability to help them find their personal voice, while navigating complex family dynamics and life transitions is at the core of her work.

Lisa is also the co-founder of Touchstone Retreats, facilitating process-oriented art and writing retreats throughout the Portland area. Through this work she utilizes the creative process as a way to support participants through their personal life transitions while deepening their relationships with themselves and building creative community.

Full Circle Ceremonies was born out of these experiences, driven by the desire to merge the power of personal storytelling with her love of creative facilitation to create custom personal ceremonies. Lisa has completed extensive training through the Celebrant Academy and the Ceremony and Rites of Passage Global Training certification program.

What a gift it is to work with Lisa. She creates sacred space for all transitions and pivots, large and small. She reminds us that the phases and changes we are going through matter, and that marking them, remembering them, and sharing them is a way to bring healing and heart back to our souls.
